New to downtown is Big Ono Bake Shop, a bakery at 116 S. Front Street that also serves lunch. At Peabody Place, Dan McGuinness Pub has closed its doors, but the East Memphis location is still going strong.

The Memphis restaurant industry and the city in general mourn one of our brightest lights. Thomas Boggs, CEO of Huey's restaurants, died in May. He joined Huey's as manager and bartender in 1975 and within two years became co-owner.

Three Oaks Grill has closed its doors after many years in Germantown. Taking over the space is Elfo's, the lunch restaurant operated by Alex Grisanti.

McEwen's on Monroe has a new owner. Mac and Cindy Edwards sold the restaurant they started in 1997 to Bert Smythe, who plans to keep things pretty much the same as it had been under the Edwards' ownership.
