Fashion Takes the Stage

It's not every month we get to use a theater for a photo shoot, much less some of its actors as our models. But this  month,   Playhouse on the Square graciously granted us their stage, and the stars of Les Miserables, Jordan Nichols and Morgan Howard, exhibit our fashions. We were also granted access to the wardrobe department — a dream come true as we mixed in what local retailers had to offer with the actors' costumes. In other words, we show fashion as art in a setting that puts Memphis in the limelight.

I Dreamed a Dream

Gorgeous clothing from yesteryear . . . On Jordan: Cortefiel double-breasted jacket, silk tie, and tie pin; all from Flashback. White button-down from wardrobe department. On Morgan: pleated red dress with metallic detail, gold chain belt worn as necklace; all from Flashback. Embroidered belt and hair tie from wardrobe department.

Master of the House

Jordan’s sinister character, Marius, is very comfortable in the dark. Wool blazer, blue gingham button-down, silk woven tie, silk pocket square; all from James Davis. Sterling silver signet ring with carved black-onyx crest, $1,085; Mednikow men's Chronometer watch with leather strap,$850; all from Mednikow. Top hat from wardrobe department.

Lovely Ladies

Morgan wears an outfit that could have come from Eponine’s dressing room. White tunic shirt with golden button details and printed pants, both by Burning Torch, both $260, from Kittie Kyle. 24-karat gold and oxidized silver cone earrings with pave diamonds by Yossi Harari, $3,180; sterling silver and 18-karat yellow-gold hammered cuff bracelet by David Yurman, $3,500; and sterling silver and 18-karat yellow-gold hammered Albion ring with 17mm light-blue topaz by David Yurman, $2,300; all from Mednikow.

The Final Battle

The actors give us a dramatic fashion finale. Velvet corset from wardrobe department. On Jordan: corduroy pants by Hiltl, $195, and white button-down by Ermenegildo Zegna, $385, from Oak Hall.
