Haunted Fun Featured at Shelby Farms as Spooky Nights Opens October 4

Halloween lovers have a new way to celebrate this October, as Shelby Farms introduces Spooky Nights. Park officials unearthed their plans for ghoulish fun at a press event that included zombies, clowns, and plenty of surprises.

A cast of goblins wandered from the cemetary through the crowd, thoroughly scaring one man's dog as they gave the press a taste of what's to come.

Every Friday and Saturday night in October from 7 to 10 p.m., families will be treated to a host of activities, including a nocturnal hike that explains those things that go bump in the night, a Headless Horseman hayride, zombie laser tag, and pumpkin painting for children.

But the event's centerpiece is the Haunted Trail (for ages 12 and up), a .6 mile bridle path transformed into a ghoulish fright fest. Groups of 15 to 20 will hear stories on the trail as an ensemble of spooks do their best to send tingles up your spine.

The park's website includes discount coupons for buying value packs. Visitors pay at the entrance for the Haunted Trail ($10/person) or Noctural Hike ($10/family). Payment for other activities is on location: zombie laser tag ($5/per game), hayride ($5/person), and pumpkin painting ($3/per pumpkin). — Read more in the October issue!
