05/17/13Puttin' on the GRIZZOK so by now, everyone is puttin' on the GRIZZ, or should. So, how about I show you mine and you show me yours? Me first: My incredible headdress is by Mimi & Mary of Brave Design. This particular piece has gone to countless Grizz games including play off games in which I have met David Stern and his wife (they loved it) and Monday night's Game 4 in which I was sitting next to ZBo's family. Zbo's mama loved it so much that I gave it to her for the rest of our season. Good Karma, great juju, the Universe wants it...whatever. The headdress made national TV and it's only right that I passed it along. *Special Note: My t-shirt is from Hoop City Memphis and my good friend, Jeff Jackson, is wearing the awesome Nike shirt that... 05/10/13Looking Good Despite the Mud and Rain and ColdMemphis is not for sissies and MusicFest once again proved that Mother Nature is gonna have her way when we wanna have our way with some of the best live music around. Regardless, the crowd braved it, the artists rocked it, and everybody did their best to represent. Also part of the routine is the party inside The Memphis Flyer tent, where one of our favorite photographers, Don Perry, shot festival-goers who were having a blast despite the Mud and the Rain and the Cold. Here are some of our Memphis proud: All of this mash-up of fashion, music, and mud totally brings out the most creative revelers and artists. Capturing these elements were three of my other very favorite photographers working in Memphis right now: Ziggy Tucker, Joey Miller, and Bob Bayne. Thankfully,... |

05/02/13Les Bijoux ParisienesThe Dixon was transformed last Saturday night into a chic, modern, and sublime fete celebrating the exquisite exhibit: Les Bijoux Parisienes. Everything about the event was amazing-the collection, the guests, the tent, the settings, the lighting, the food and French 75 cocktails...every detail rocked and made me feel just like I was either in Paris or roaming in Central Park. Increible... *Major Snaps* to the Dixon and it's volunteers who put this together. Check out the insane floral display by Greg Campbell (sadly, no relation) of The Garden District that greeted guests as they arrived. Several examples of the psychadelic glam by Moonshine Lighting Inc. that was the interior of the massive tent by Mahaffey. Dusk is glowing and guests are elegant.... |

04/30/13Madewell Store OpeningMadewell opened it's doors in Tennessee in Saddle Creek last Tuesday. Known for it's high quality denim, this is the store for the gal who craves effortless chic in her life. Easy for a young girl but great for moms too who want to look pulled together in familiar fabrics with tailored details. Also-they have the BEST denim cut offs. Here's the Madewell uniform per se: super soft t's with denim cut offs...all in every color. Here's a tote that I'm totally consumed with... ...and easy, colorful belts. Aside from the obvious, the *other* best part about the Madewell opening was getting to meet so many other local fashion bloggers. Such a cool little community of young, bright, and stylish women converged and then wrote all... |

04/19/13"What a Week I'm Having""What a week I'm having" is one of the hilarious quotes from Eugene Levy in 1984's, Splash. Although in the film it refers to his chasing down a mermaid, for me it refers to the serendipitous week I've had filled with fashion mermaids, unicorns, and rainbows per se. Here I am with my son and Carly Rae Jepsen at The Peabody's Rooftop Party co-hosted by Q107.5. CRJ wore a skintight but not offensive black tube dress, black cropped leather jacket, pumps, and a cool necklace with a chic ponytail — adorbs. She is teeny-tiny and very slender. And, she was nice to my son. Love her. Photo credit goes to Chris Taylor of Q107.5 — super cool guy. My *new to me* sweet Louis Vuitton (photo above) came unexpectedly from my good... 04/12/13MFW Wrap UpWow, did MFW just happen? Well, it did and it rocked. Here are some photos to prove just how much fun we had... Brave Design Co-Creator, Mary Seay Taylor, with model Aviana, in the VIP tent Saturday night. Both are draped in Brave. Lucky gals. Lauren Carlson, the designer behind Question the Answer line, with her sis, Maggie, in the VIP tent Saturday. Both are wearing the addictive jewelry. Kittie Kyle was a sponsor and showed Yoana Baraschi Saturday night. Carol Furr, store owner Cindy Gambrell, and a friend are enjoying themselves at the event. That's me — hair by Necha Dickinson and makeup by Kendrick Simpson. I'm wearing my mother's-in-law vintage earrings from the '80s and a bright turquoise dress by Yigal... |

03/19/13Where the Boys AreSpring Break would not be complete without plenty of cute boys and there have been LOTS representing Memphis lately. For the March issue of Memphis magazine, I went off the cuff and produced an all men's fashion layout which coincided with a really pretty, bright, and sunny day. It was my first taste of Spring Fever this year and I was even more distracted than usual, having to work on a gorgeous day with this gorgeous guy . . . Feel my pain, please. Special note — everyone else on set was and always is very professional. Other cute boys as of now include Justin Timberlake for all of the obvious reasons, but also for the fact that his new album, The 20/20 Experience, drops as another squad full of hotties and cuties — the Memphis Tigers... |

03/01/13March MadnessToday is March 1st so the "soft opening" of March Madness is making its way. Regardless of their loss this week, the Tigers have been on a roll and now is the time to tweak the mistakes, get through the rest of the season and CUSA tourney...and hopefully Dance our way through March. Be sure to grab your Tigers gear and wear it with pride. The usual stops at Tiger Book Store and Tiger Spirit shop are great, but for a really special t-shirt locally designed and made go to HoopCityMemphis.com. These t-shirts are super soft and high on unique design style. They also have some of the best Grizz shirts too. This one below on the right made it in the March issue of Memphis Magazine in our men's fashion story. All eyes on...Joe Jackson who is... |

02/22/13My Day JobI styled my friend, Necha Dickinson, for her second trip to the Grammys in support of her nominated husband, Luther. Necha's dress is a long chiffon Theyskens' Theory that reminded me instantly of our derivitive influence-Ossie Clark. Original "Ossies" are the epitome of effortless glam of the 70's and were poplular with British rockers and their girlfriends. The patent leather bow blet is perfect and we had lots of fun working with Jinger at Jospeh with these items. Necha's necklace is a multi layer moonstone piece by Mary Seay Taylor of Brave Design and it glowed on her. The sexy pewter sandals are her own and her clutch was loaned by her bestie, Juli Hurdle. Luther and Cody look great too, but this is all about Necha. Juli said it best when she posted on... Posted at 08:42 AM | Permalink | Comments: 3 |
