A Summons to Memphis 2014
Since 2011, Memphis magazine has dedicated the pages of our June issue to celebrating the diverse and artistic culture in our city of Memphis. In 2013, we decided to “summon” New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu to talk about the important issues pertaining to his city. This year, on Friday, June 6th, we had the honor of having Mayor Karl Dean of Nashville continue the conversation at the Holiday Inn at the University of Memphis Grand Ballroom for our 2nd annual Summons to Memphis luncheon.
Attendees enjoyed a lunch provided by the Holiday Inn, while Mayor Karl Dean spoke about the secret to Nashville’s success, what should be on the agenda for all of Tennessee’s cities, the importance of improving schools, making neighborhoods safer, and bringing more and better jobs to the city.
We give a special thanks to Mayor Karl Dean and staff, Mayor A C Wharton, Memphis magazine publisher Kenneth Neill, the Holiday Inn at the University of Memphis, Holliday Flowers, and our sponsors at the Henry Turley Company, Music + Arts, CBRE Memphis, Christian Brothers University, NovaCopy, Baptist Memorial Healthcare, First Tennessee Bank, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Belz Enterprises, and Looney Ricks Kiss.
