"Libration," a Library Celebration

Bestselling author and Memphis native Hampton Sides was in Memphis for a three-night fundraising event benefiting the Memphis Public Library and Information Center. To kick off the fundraiser, an elegant garden party, billed as "Chapter 1," was held on April 25, 2013, at the beautiful East Memphis home of Pallas and Phil Zanone at which guests were able to spend one-on-one time with Sides. Memphis magazine was a sponsor of this very special series of gatherings and we are also proud to note that early in his illustrious career, Hampton Sides was a writer on the staff of this magazine. The Society of Entrepreneurs 2013 Awards Banquet

The Society of Entrepreneurs held its 21st annual dinner and awards banquet on April 13, 2013 at the Holiday Inn, University of Memphis at which five prominenet Memphis entrepreneurs (David S. Andrews, William B. Courtney, Richard H. Leike, Neely Mallory, Jr., and Duncan Williams) were inducted into the ranks of this distinguished group. Doug Marchant, President of the Society, welcomed guests while Don Hutson was Master of Ceremonies. A Summons to Memphis 2013

In conjunction with the annual June Culture issue, Memphis magazine hosted our inaugural A Summons to Memphis luncheon on Thursday, May 30th in the Continental Ballroom of the Peabody Hotel. While attendees enjoyed a delicious New Orleans-themed lunch from the Peabody, special guest speaker New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu captivated the crowd with a discussion on the importance of capitalizing on a city's culture for positively shaping the urban socioeconomic environment. Cirque du CMOM 2013

The Children's Museum of Memphis hosted its annual Cirque du CMOM fundraiser, sponsored by Iberia Bank, on February 2, 2013. Celebrating the evening's Rio de Janeiro: Carnival! theme, guests were invited to "unmask" their wild sides in a festive night of sequins, feathers, samba, and capirinhas. Que noite fantástica!

Staxtacular 2013

The 9th annual Staxtacular fundraiser for the Stax Music Academy, presented by SunTrust, was held at the Stax Museum of American Soul Music in downtown Memphis on January 26, 2013. The event, billed as a"soul-shakin' throw-down and auction," did not disappoint as guests enjoyed refreshments and entertainment alongside some of Memphis' most prominent business and entertainment figures, as well as several players from the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team.
