The Pink Kitty tastes best in a Mason jar mug garnished with lots of lemon slices.
My father taught me a lot of lessons growing up. I actually paid attention to his lectures on mixology. Mixing a drink is an important skill, and he wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing. As far as he is concerned, if someone asks you to make them a drink and 20 minutes later they wind up on the floor, that’s on you, kid.
I credit my father for helping me develop a taste for adult beverages and teaching me how to whip up a well-made cocktail. (Skills that have served me well more times than he’d probably like to know.) Eventually, I started experimenting with my own ingredients. Enter the “Pink Kitty.”
This pink-lemonade-based vodka cocktail has saved me more than once from suffering through yet another cheap beer. And while the drink’s name has been changed for the readers of Memphis Magazine in the video below, the slight air of innuendo remains.
When the “Pink Kitty” was born, I became the unofficial and undisputed bartender for my circle of friends. There’s two things the majority of college students cannot do well: manage money and mix drinks. If I was as good at the first as I was at the latter, I would probably have started charging for my services a long time ago.
