Food Lovers' Guide To Memphis: Get a Signed Copy at Cooper-Young Farmers Market
Let me be up front: This post is shameless self promotion for a book I'm very proud of writing called The Food Lovers' Guide to Memphis: The Best Restaurants, Markets & Local Culinary Offerings. I'll be signing the book Saturday at the community table of the Cooper-Young Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is located at Cooper Street and Walker Avenue.
The book was released last week, following a springtime writing blitz that produced some 60,000 words on the Memphis food scene, an emerging foodie destination for locals and visitors alike. The book should appeal to both, because it mixes Memphis history into a travel guide of restaurants (high end, barbecue, and blue plate), farmers markets, food events, artisan purveyors, and recipes from the city's favorite chefs.
Here's what Susan Ellis at Hungry Memphis wrote recently about The Food Lovers' Guide: "The book features some 200 restaurants and markets organized by location, from downtown to the suburbs... But this is no dry recitation. Pam's conversational writing style and her knack for tucking in interesting facts and trivia about the Memphis culinary scene makes the book not only a guide to flip through when one asks, "Where do you want to eat?" but a good sit-down read starting at page one."
