10/23/12St. Louis Catholic School Helps Downtown Memphis Commission Beautify The Hotel ChiscaDowntown Memphis Commission and the Hotel Chisca Development Team partner with St. Louis Catholic School for a project building a more vibrant city through art. Selected St. Louis student art banners will be displayed along the fence surrounding The Hotel Chisca enhance the curb appeal of this long-vacant building before and during upcoming construction. The artwork features images based on Memphis music history which is fitting since The Hotel Chisca is where Elvis was first played on air from the WHBQ radio studios in 1954 on Dewey Phillips “Red, Hot and Blue” show. 10/16/12Lisa Marie Presley Debuts Duet with Late Father ElvisThis Thursday, October 18th , Lisa Marie Presley will debut the video for "I Love You Because" featuring a duet with her late father Elvis Presley, on CMT and CMT.com during the 8 and 10 a.m. ET/PT music hours. Lisa Marie recorded the Elvis song for the 35th anniversary of her father's death. The video was only intended to be viewed by some 25,000 fans in attendance at the 35th Anniversary Concert at the FedExForum in Memphis on August 16th, but the audience reaction was so emotional and moving that she agreed to share the video with CMT. “I Love You Because” was first recorded by Elvis on July 4th and 5th, 1954, the same time he recorded "That's All Right," at Memphis' Sun Studio. 10/05/12Deeply Rooted: Collage dance Collective Launches Third Season with a Program Honoring Memphis and One of Their Founding Members.Collage dance Collective will present “Deeply Rooted” on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2:30 p.m., at the Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center. Collage dance Collective was founded in 2004 in New York City, the dance capital of the world, and relocated to Memphis in 2007 to inspire the growth of ballet. “Deeply Rooted” features the choreography of Tiffany Glenn, one of the studio’s founding members. Glenn lost a six-year battle with breast cancer in June 2012. To honor the choreographer and Director of Dancer Development, Collage launched the Tiffany Glenn Memorial Scholarship. “We will be sharing audience favorites that have helped shape the company’s reputation for excellent classical technique,...
